5 Challenges Of Starting With A New Cold Calling Agency

Starting to work with a new cold calling agency can be tricky. There are a few big cold calling challenges that come up when a new client and an agency like Salaria team up. In this blog post, we’ll talk about the top five.

First, there’s the challenge of writing a good script. It’s a team effort and sometimes it’s hard when everyone has different ideas. Next, there’s the pressure to get results fast. Clients want to see success quickly, but it usually takes a bit of time to get there. The third telemarketing hurdle is figuring out what works best in the market. It’s all about trying different things and seeing what sticks.

Then, we have the issue of keeping the client calm and confident. They’re spending money and taking a risk, so they really need to feel sure about their choice. Lastly, there’s the challenge of fitting into the client’s way of doing things. This means working with their systems, processes, and preferences. It can get a bit messy, but Salaria is always ready to handle it. Let’s dive into each of these sales outreach difficulties and see how to tackle each one effectively.

1. Writing the Script: A Balancing Act

The first big step in working with a cold calling agency like Salaria is coming up with the right script. This step is super important, but it’s not always easy. Why? Because it involves a lot of back-and-forth between the client and the agency. It’s like a team project where everyone needs to be on the same page when they face prospecting obstacles.

Sometimes, the client knows exactly what they want to say. They come in with clear ideas and messages, which is great. But other times, it’s more about brainstorming together to come up with the best approach. This is where things can get a bit tricky, especially when there are a lot of people involved. Imagine trying to blend ideas from ten different people into one script. That’s a lot of opinions and priorities to juggle!

Salaria’s job is to make sure everyone’s ideas are heard and to find the right balance. We want to make a script that the client is happy with, but also one that’s going to work well on calls. It’s about mixing and matching ideas, figuring out what’s most important, and sometimes, being a bit of a referee when ideas clash. In the end, though, it’s all about creating something that both the client and the callers are confident in using.

2. Speeding Up Results: A Race Against Time

The second big client acquisition challenge is all about speed – getting those results as quickly as possible. Everyone wants to see success fast, and this is where Salaria stands out. While other cold calling companies might take a whole month just to get ready, we get things rolling in just a week. But that doesn’t mean we can just snap our fingers and make things happen.

Even with a speedy start, you can’t expect instant meetings. It’s not like people are usually ready to jump into a meeting the next day. Most of the time, meetings are scheduled a week or three down the line. So, what does this mean? Well, it means that the real action, the actual meetings, usually don’t start until the second month of the engagement.

It’s important to keep this in mind, so you don’t get too antsy waiting for results. Salaria is fast, but we’re also realistic. We know it takes a bit of time to get those meetings in the calendar. So, while the prep work happens quickly, the real outcomes start showing up a bit later. It’s all part of the process of getting you the results you want.

3. Solving the Puzzle: Adapting to the Market

The third challenge is like solving a big puzzle. Salaria has to really watch how the market responds to their calls and then change things up based on what they see. This part is pretty exciting but also a bit tricky. The first couple of months are kind of like a test run, especially for companies that aren’t sure what works best for their product yet.

If a company is big and has been around the block, they might already have a good idea of what gets the market’s attention. For them, it’s smooth sailing. But for a lot of companies, it’s all about trying different things to see what sticks. Salaria plays detective here, tweaking even the smallest details in their strategy, like changing just one word in the script, to see how it affects the results. It’s all about listening closely to how people react and then making smart changes.

This part of the process is all about being flexible and ready to make quick adjustments. It’s not just about having a good plan; it’s about being able to change that plan based on real feedback from the market. That’s how Salaria works out the best approach for each client – by staying alert, learning from each call, and constantly refining our strategy to hit the mark.

4. Managing Anxiety: Building Trust and Confidence

Dealing with client anxiety is a significant aspect of Salaria’s process, and understandably so. When clients invest in a cold calling service, they’re not just spending money; they’re placing their trust and expectations into the agency’s hands. This investment is a risk, and like any risk, it comes with its share of worries and doubts. Salaria, aware of these concerns, dedicates substantial effort to reassure clients and affirm the value of their services.

Anxiety in clients often stems from past experiences or the general uncertainties associated with entrusting a critical part of their business to an external team. Some clients come to Salaria carrying the baggage of unsatisfactory results from other firms. This history can heighten their apprehension, making them more cautious and in need of reassurance. Recognizing this, Salaria has developed a robust system to not only deliver results but also to keep the clients involved and informed at every step.

One of the key strategies employed by Salaria to manage client anxiety is through transparency. They provide clients with access to call recordings and detailed reporting, allowing them to witness firsthand the efforts and tactics being employed on their behalf. This level of openness serves a dual purpose – it not only keeps the clients informed but also holds the agency accountable for its performance.

Moreover, Salaria’s approach to reporting is not just about sharing numbers and data. We focus on creating a narrative that helps the client understand the progress and the strategies being implemented. This involves explaining the rationale behind each tactic, the outcomes of various approaches, and the next steps in the campaign. Such comprehensive reporting helps demystify the process, making clients feel more in control and connected to the campaign.

Another aspect of managing anxiety is setting realistic expectations. Salaria ensures that clients are aware of the typical timelines and potential challenges upfront. We make it clear that while they aim for the quickest possible results, quality and strategic alignment take precedence. This honest and upfront communication helps in aligning expectations and reduces anxiety stemming from unrealistic hopes.

Most importantly, Salaria prides itself on its track record. Every time we onboard a new client that’s worked with a competitor, we outperform what that competitor was able to deliver. This not only boosts confidence in new clients but also serves as a reminder of our commitment to excellence.

In conclusion, managing client anxiety is a complex challenge that Salaria navigates with a mix of transparency, communication, setting realistic expectations, and a solid track record. By doing so, we not only alleviate fears but also build a foundation of trust and confidence that is crucial for a successful and long-lasting partnership.

5. Working Out the Kinks: Seamless Integration into the Client’s Organization

The final hurdle, and perhaps one of the most intricate, is smoothing out the operational kinks for a seamless integration into the client’s organization. This phase is where Salaria truly shines, demonstrating our adaptability and commitment to personalized service. We don’t just work for the client; we become a part of the client’s team, almost like a remote employee dedicated to their cause.

The process begins with a thorough understanding of the client’s existing systems, processes, and technology. This is no small feat, as it often involves navigating a variety of tools and platforms, from CRMs to email systems. Salaria’s team dives into these aspects with a problem-solving mindset, ensuring that their methods align perfectly with the client’s workflow.

A key part of this integration is adapting to the client’s communication style. Every organization has its unique way of communicating, and understanding this is crucial for effective collaboration. Salaria pays close attention to these nuances, ensuring that their interaction with the client is as smooth and efficient as possible.

Another significant aspect is working out logistics like round robins for sending meetings to larger sales teams and other details with allocation and crediting every person who contributes. This involves a detailed understanding of how the client’s sales team operates, their meeting schedules, and how leads are distributed and credited among sales reps.

Salaria also places great emphasis on understanding the preferences and needs of individual sales reps. This personalized approach ensures that the leads and meetings we provide are not only of high quality but also a perfect fit for the specific sales rep who will be handling them. It’s about creating a synergy between the cold calling efforts and the client’s sales team, making the whole process more efficient and effective.

Finally, there’s the challenge of determining who to book meetings for, which involves a strategic understanding of the client’s target market and sales objectives. It’s a complex puzzle, but one that Salaria is adept at solving. We go the extra mile to ensure that every detail is accounted for, every preference is considered, and every system is seamlessly integrated.

Working out the kinks is a multifaceted challenge that Salaria embraces with enthusiasm. Our ability to embed themselves into the client’s organization, tailor their approach to individual needs, and meticulously set up and align systems and processes is what sets them apart. This level of integration and customization is not just about solving problems; it’s about creating a harmonious and productive partnership that drives success for both Salaria and our clients.

Salaria’s Secret Strength: Our Strategic Consulting Services

At Salaria Sales, we’ve built a reputation for efficiency and effectiveness in sales. But we sometimes run into a misconception that our role is confined to mere execution – simply delivering messages crafted by other cold calling companies. This view significantly understates the core of our services. We are not just about executing cold-calling scripts or disseminating messages indiscriminately. Our true strength lies in consulting services, an essential, yet often overlooked element of successful cold-calling lead-generation initiatives.

The importance of strategic consulting in this field is immense. It marks the difference between a generic, blanket approach and a well-crafted, precision-based strategy that truly connects with the intended audience. At Salaria, we pride ourselves on being more than just lead nurturing service providers. We are strategic partners, deeply invested in collaborative efforts, offering expert guidance and customized strategies. This article aims to reveal everything we do beyond the scope of traditional cold-calling agencies. So here’s a quick overview of some of the key services we provide outside of just making the calls.

1. Salaria builds the strategy alongside the client

At Salaria Sales, we firmly believe that a successful strategy is born from a partnership, not a dictatorship. This philosophy underpins our approach to every project and is especially vital in the realm of sales and lead generation. We understand that our clients come to us not just for our expertise in execution but for our business strategic insights and collaborative spirit.

The journey with each client begins with a shared vision. We don’t just take a brief and run with it; we engage in a continuous dialogue, blending our experience with the client’s deep knowledge of their business. This collaborative process ensures that the strategies we develop are not only innovative but also perfectly tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.

Many new clients ask us if we need prepared messaging, scripts, or leads. Our response is always the same: that’s what you’re partnering with us for. At Salaria, our system goes beyond the basics. We delve deep into your business, absorbing every piece of information, asking the hard-hitting questions. This intensive process allows us to craft messaging and strategies that resonate authentically with your audience.

2. We train our cold callers to your specifications

We view training and quality assurance not just as processes, but as cornerstones of our service excellence. We don’t merely train our cold callers; we immerse them in a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Every call is an opportunity for refinement. Our team diligently analyzes these interactions, identifying areas for enhancement and swiftly implementing necessary changes.

This rigorous approach to quality assurance extends to every level of our operation. When we can record calls, we record and review them with the callers, constantly fine-tuning our approach based on real-world feedback. This ongoing cycle of feedback and adjustment ensures that our team remains adept and responsive to the evolving dynamics of sales conversations.

Clients play a critical role in this process too. We provide them with recordings when we’re permitted to, inviting their input. This collaborative feedback mechanism ensures that our adjustments align perfectly with client expectations and preferences. Our Account Managers serve as efficient conduits for this feedback, streamlining communication and ensuring that client insights are swiftly translated into action without them having to talk to each caller individually.

At Salaria Sales, we take pride in our proactive approach to training and quality. Our commitment to excellence means that we are continually elevating our standards, ensuring our team not only meets but surpasses client expectations. In this way, we maintain our position not just as a service provider, but as a benchmark of quality in the sales industry.

3. We take list building seriously

The quality of your contact list can be the deciding factor between success and stagnation. At Salaria, we approach list building with the precision of a master craftsman. We don’t just compile lists; we sculpt them with an attention to detail that is unparalleled in the industry.

Our prospecting goes far beyond the basics. It’s a detailed, highly tailored process, sometimes focusing on a single lead while gathering over 30 unique data points. This depth of research means scouring far beyond standard contact databases. We delve into the specifics of each potential lead, gathering information that isn’t readily available, ensuring that every contact on the list is a perfect match for your unique requirements.

This level of granularity in our list-building process is meticulous and demanding, but it’s what sets us apart. We take pride in the fact that our clients don’t have to worry about the quality of leads or the precision of our targeting. At Salaria Sales, we handle the complexities of list building, allowing our clients to focus on what they do best – closing deals and growing their business. With us, you can rest assured that every lead is a step towards an opportunity.

4. We care about meeting quality

The true measure of our success is not just in the quantity of meetings we set up, but in their quality. Our goal is to create meaningful opportunities that propel your business forward. To achieve this, we focus on a strategy that evolves and adapts, ensuring that every meeting holds the potential for significant impact.

The journey of optimizing meetings begins with understanding your specific goals and the nuances of your industry. From here, we meticulously adjust our prospecting and cold calling strategies, aligning them closely with your objectives. This dynamic approach allows us to refine our process continuously, adapting to feedback and market responses in real-time.

But our commitment goes beyond setting up these opportunities. We closely monitor the performance of each meeting, evaluating both the quality and the volume. By analyzing these key factors, we are able to make targeted improvements, constantly tweaking our approach to enhance effectiveness.

At Salaria Sales, it’s about creating a balance between filling your calendar and ensuring each meeting counts. We don’t just open doors; we strive to open the right ones, leading to valuable conversations and tangible outcomes. Our dedication to quality in every aspect of our service is what helps us build lasting, productive partnerships with our clients.

5. We QA everything

We’ve established a robust, process-driven organization underpinned by an intricate quality assurance (QA) system. This system is our commitment to delivering the highest standard of service to our clients.

Our QA mechanism is comprehensive, featuring detailed rubrics and performance metrics. Every team member, from cold callers to list builders, is continuously evaluated against these high standards. This level of scrutiny ensures that we maintain a team that is not only skilled but also aligned with our core values of excellence and efficiency.

We understand that the quality of our team directly impacts the results we deliver. Therefore, we have a policy of continual improvement, which includes making tough decisions. If a team member isn’t meeting our high standards, we take swift action. This commitment to quality extends to regularly refreshing our team, ensuring that only the best are representing Salaria Sales.

Our clients have never had to request the removal of a cold caller, a testament to our proactive approach. By holding our team to the highest standards and rigorously QAing every aspect of our operation, we ensure that the service we provide is not just satisfactory, but exemplary. At Salaria Sales, quality isn’t just a goal; it’s a guarantee.

6. We put together data analytics reporting for leadership teams and track KPIs so you don’t have to

We understand that data is the lifeblood of strategic decision-making. That’s why we’ve invested heavily in a robust data analytics system, empowering our clients with insights that drive success. Our analytics team is dedicated to extracting meaningful patterns and trends from every interaction, turning raw data into actionable intelligence.

We provide customized dashboards that present key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics in a clear, understandable format. Whether it’s tracking dials, emails, or conversion rates, our reports are designed to give a comprehensive overview of campaign performance. If our standard reports don’t meet your specific needs, we don’t hesitate to create customized solutions that do.

Salaria’s commitment

We provide a partnership that fuses strategic consulting with data-driven insights and a commitment to quality. Our tailored approach, advanced analytics, and rigorous quality assurance are designed to elevate your lead-generation efforts and drive meaningful results.

If you’re looking for a top-tier, well-equipped sales outsourcing company that not only saves you money but also enhances your lead-generation strategies, we invite you to reach out to us. Let Salaria Sales be the catalyst for taking your sales to the next level.

Holiday Sales Slowdown?

Some sales teams are ignoring almost 17% of their opportunities to set meetings.

That’s because they exaggerate a truth that we all know: B2B sales (unlike retail sales!) are slow during the holidays. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t book meetings.

Even if your deal flow is slowing, you can still build pipeline for the new year. Let’s break down exactly how, and the mistakes so many teams are making when they strategize for the holiday season.

Salaria’s December Data Debrief

To see whether this holiday sales myth holds true, Salaria took a look at our data from the last two years. What we found surprised even us: In 2021, we saw a slight dip in meetings booked in November and December. But in 2022, we actually broke above our year long average for meetings booked.

That’s because if you’re willing to put in the effort, the holidays can actually be a great time to book meetings. You might be wondering why that is, but don’t worry, we’ll break it down.

Why Meeting Volume Increases During Holidays

Several factors contribute to this uptick in meeting volume:

Preparation for the New Year: While deal closures might slow down, many companies and individuals use this period to lay the groundwork for the upcoming year. Meetings booked in November and December are often exploratory and preparatory in nature, setting the stage for future engagements, but keeping your seasonal sales steady overall.

Holiday Spirit and Openness: The festive atmosphere of the holidays often puts people in a more receptive and open mood. This can lead to a greater willingness to entertain new ideas and discussions, contrary to the usual hustle of the business year.

Availability and Planning: Contrary to busy work periods, the holidays can offer more flexible schedules, making it easier to find suitable times for meetings. Additionally, with a slower deal flow, both sales teams and clients have more time to focus on strategic planning and less urgent but important discussions.

The Cost of Ignoring the Holiday Period

Neglecting nearly 17% of the year — the equivalent of the holiday period — is a strategic misstep. This period, often dismissed as unproductive, actually offers unique opportunities for building relationships and preparing for future success. Teams that disregard this time and do their holiday shopping instead may find themselves at a disadvantage, with a depleted pipeline and reduced momentum when they kick back into gear come January.

Too often, lazy or unsuccessful salespeople will use this period as an excuse for their failures. Their bosses believe them because of how prolific this myth is. But the truth is that even if your deal flow has slowed and people are less willing to sign, you can set up meetings for a busy January.

The holiday season shouldn’t be an excuse for reduced productivity. In fact, Salaria’s approach demonstrates the opposite. By embracing the unique characteristics of this period — the general good mood, the openness to new ideas, and the availability of clients — sales teams can turn a traditionally slow period into a time of fruitful engagement and strategic planning.

Take Your Prospecting Up a Notch

The holiday season, far from being a time to slow down, presents unique opportunities for unique sales strategies. By understanding and leveraging the factors that contribute to increased meeting volumes, like the festive mood and better availability, sales teams can turn this period into a significant advantage. This proactive approach not only sets the stage for a successful new year but also ensures that no opportunity is left unexplored, even during the holiday season.

Getting Started with Salaria

How an outsourcing company treats you as your relationship begins tells you a lot about how they’ll behave going forward. I’m explaining how Salaria begins its relationships with our clients and partners not just because it’s a handy resource for all of you, but also because it illustrates the deeper differences between Salaria and other lead generation companies.

We Move Quickly

That’s the biggest difference in how we approach client onboarding. We want you to start getting value from our partnership as soon as possible. That’s why we usually start our work about a week after our contract begins.

Surprised? If you’ve worked with other outsourcing companies, it’s possible you’ve heard of much more extended timelines. Some even spend a month onboarding clients before they start giving something back. It’s worth considering how much value that additional time provides.

We find that one week is sufficient time for our sales experts to learn what they need to know about your company to be able to start booking meetings. It’s true that they won’t be experts on every technical aspect of what you’re selling at that point, but we’ve found that they rarely need to be.

Does it work? Just ask our clients. Many of them have complex products and a wide range of services that they provide, but that doesn’t stop our highly-trained sales team from doing their research within a week.

We Do Our Research

Not only do we get started quickly, but we do it with a highly customized approach. That’s possible through sales expertise and continuous improvement.

Many of the same firms that take a whole month to onboard clients use cookie-cutter playbooks that they think will work for all their clients. Ironically, they take more time for a less individualized approach.

Instead, Salaria’s sales experts do individualized research and develop a custom sales plan for every client. We create the original proposal in that first week, and continue iterating on it in constant communication with the client.

In some ways, our onboarding isn’t ever done. We’re always updating our sales strategy and we never consider ourselves to be fully finished. But we’ve found that the best way to do research on a client’s customer base is to talk with them directly, and while we’re talking, why not book a meeting?

See for Yourself

Curious to see if Salaria’s approach could work for you? We’re always happy to explain our process in more detail. Just send us a message here and we can set up a meeting right away.

Salaria’s Cold Calling Expertise

In the competitive landscape of sales and marketing, cold calling remains a critical strategy, and no one does it better than Salaria. But what is the secret behind their success? We delve deeper into the strategies and principles that have set us apart among cold-calling companies.

Rigorous Recruitment Process

Salaria’s recruitment process is nothing short of meticulous. Accepting only 5-10% of all applicants, a standard even higher than some Ivy League schools, we are sure to onboard individuals who are not just skilled but are the best fit for the role. The recruitment process involves:

  • Personability Tests: To ensure that the candidates are personable and can build rapport with potential clients.
  • Language Proficiency: A strong understanding of the English language and business vernacular is a must.
  • Mock Calls: Candidates undergo numerous mock calls to assess their readiness and ability to think on their feet.

Comprehensive Initial Training

Once recruited, the employees undergo expert training under designated cold-call trainers. The training equips them with the necessary resources and procedures to excel in their roles. But Salaria also believes in the practical experience of “throwing them into the fire” to truly gauge their capabilities. That means that we can quickly identify who the top performers will be and invest in them with ongoing training to make them as good as they can be.

Extensive Ongoing Training

Salaria’s ongoing training is where the magic happens. The team constantly analyzes live calls and recordings to understand market reactions and fine-tune their strategies. This involves meticulous script alterations, sometimes changing a single word to skyrocket conversion rates. The goal is to make every second of the call count, optimizing scripts to fit within the one-to-three-minute window that is crucial in cold calling lead generation.

Incentive Structure

Salaria stands out with its well-thought-out incentive structure, steering clear of vanity statistics and incentives that encourage more unsavory tactics. The incentives are designed to encourage genuine and fruitful conversations rather than just booking meetings through aggressive tactics.

Realistic Approach

Understanding the realities of cold calling leads is Salaria’s forte. We are adept at crafting concise yet effective scripts that fit the time constraints of an average cold call. The focus is not just on efficiency but also on ensuring that the lead fully comprehends the purpose and the intentions behind the meeting, avoiding any meaningless engagements.

Salaria has mastered the art of cold calling through a combination of rigorous recruitment, comprehensive training, and a realistic approach to the dynamics of cold calling and appointment setting. Our strategies are rooted in understanding the nuances of human interaction and leveraging them to create meaningful connections in a short span of time.

By fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptation, coupled with a fair incentive structure, Salaria ensures that our team is not just well-prepared but also motivated to excel in our roles. It is this meticulous approach that has cemented Salaria’s position as a leader in cold-calling strategies, setting a benchmark for others in the industry to aspire to.

The Top Mistake Most Small Sales Teams Make

Your company might be ruining its own sales funnel. Plenty of companies are. That’s because they have their account executives (AEs) do everything from lead generation to deal signing.

The common belief is that AEs know best and having them handle everything will build a firmer relationship with prospects right from the start. But is this sales team strategy really the most effective? Here are some small business sales tips to help you out.

The Downside of Doing Everything

Having AEs handle everything can lead to a significant opportunity cost that is hard to quantify. Many companies do not consider this or are unwilling to take what they perceive as a gamble on sales improvement by investing in a specialized lead generation team. Unfortunately, they think having a specialized team will be more costly—one of the most common sales outsourcing misconceptions.

This approach essentially creates an “excuse engine” out of a sales rep. Sales reps often find themselves saying, “I can’t do everything—I’m not getting enough leads, or I don’t have time to work these deals.” And they are right. AEs end up spending 30% to 40% of their time doing lead generation, which leaves less time for closing deals.

So they end up wasting their time on less valuable tasks while leaders try to find sales optimization tips. But those might even be the tasks they’re worse at—after all, not everyone is good at everything. Some people are great at creating opportunities, while others are incredible at closing deals.

By not specializing, you weigh down your top performers with other burdens, which is not efficient. Only 20% of salespeople drive most companies’ revenue, and even fewer can do other jobs like lead generation at the same time. Additionally, without divisions in the sales process, it is impossible to identify problems and fix them. This lack of monitoring can lead to inefficiencies and lost opportunities.

The Importance of Specialization

Specialization is key to proper sales team management. By figuring out who is good at what and assigning roles accordingly, you can remove the possibility for excuses and determine whether your AEs are closers or not. This approach also allows you to monitor performance at all stages of the sales funnel and identify and fix problems as they arise.

Many firms claim that their sales reps handle the full sales cycle, including sales prospecting, lead generation, follow-ups, appointment setting, nurturing, inbound calls, and contract negotiations. However, this approach burdens the sales reps with unnecessary work.

On the other hand, firms like Salaria offer handoffs without handholding. While SDRs (Sales Development Representatives) are expensive because you need to train them, Salaria’s professionals are all ready to go, saving your sales reps time.

While it may seem cost-effective to have AEs handle everything, this approach has several downsides, including the opportunity cost, inefficiencies, and the burden it places on your top performers. Specialization is key to optimizing the sales process and driving revenue.

Outsourcing to quality lead generation and sales prospecting services like Salaria can be a more efficient way to generate leads without burdening your sales reps with unnecessary work. Remember, no handholding, no tools, no excuses—just 30 minutes of your time per week. A good firm is the most efficient way to generate leads. So, take a step back, assess your sales process, and make the necessary changes to optimize it for success.
